Its worth it!!

When I embarked on my journey to become a coach, little did I realize how fulfilling and rewarding I am going to feel. To begin with, there is so much flexibility both in terms of time and place……..coaching can be done anywhere anytime!!
Another aspect that most of us struggle with, in life, is to be able to establish and take action towards achieving our goals. Coaching really helps in this area. Not only does it give the individual the opportunity to set their goals in a realistic way but also with the assistance of the coach, can they actively work towards achieving them, which is in any case is an important part of the coaching process. Not only that, with the support received from the coach the coachee is able to improve specific skills about themselves, which may include communicating more effectively, delegation, conflict management, team building or even the art of persuasion. It has been experienced that coaching is known to have had a very positive impact on a person’s career.
It needs to be understood, though, that coaching is not just about improving an individual’s skill in the workplace. Instead it takes learning to a much deeper level. The coachee is also able to build self awareness since the coach is able to familiarize the former with their, ‘blind spots.’ Hence the individuals are able to learn more about themselves. With the insights thus gathered they are able to see how they are perceived by others and thus be able to improve certain areas of their personalities, subsequently effecting their lives in a positive way.
The sheer delight of helping the coachee realize and tap their latent potential is very satisfying. The opportunity to make a difference and see firsthand, the positive impact that coaching can have on other people’s lives, has given me a strong sense of self worth and inner happiness on several occasions……in addition to the fact that it has also helped me strengthen both my personal and professional relationships.
This I have realized is due to the fact that in this activity both the coach and coachee are on an equal footing. In the security of complete confidentiality a lot of personal information and insight is shared. Having a coach gives the individual a safe place to talk through sensitive issues. This helps the client or coachee gain perspective without feeling intimidated by someone. The personal benefits therefore are wide ranging since as a result of engaging with their coach they feel empowered, and are able to work more easily and productively with others. This gives them the confidence to formulate strategies to overcome obstacles and achieve satisfying results both in their personal and professional life.
Needless to mention these experiences have transcended different age groups, hierarchies and work culture. In most cases the synergy thus created in these interactions have left both the coachee and me feeling happy and invigorated. Personally every experience has always left me feeling rejuvenated, enriched and convinced………..that coaching is a journey worth the endevour!!
