Coach as IOT Gateway

We’ve heard a lot of talk about the Internet of Things (IoT) and all its benefits for subscribers and service providers alike. M2M or Machine to Machine is the foundation of IOT. Machine to machine is a broad label used to describe connections between devices that are managed and enabled without human intervention. The initial implementation is certainly almost always performed by humans. But once in place, the devices themselves take charge of messaging and activities based on their capabilities.
Why don’t we create an Internet of Things(Talents) eco-system within a team or in an organization where individual’s potential is nourished, evolved and self-managed and get similar benefit like IoT?
After spending about 20 years in corporate world and going through Coach training by CTT or Coach-To-Transformation, I have realized Coaching is an important tool to create a framework where human can be considered as IOT entities in a self-managed team and the organization get the maximum benefit out of it.
My experiment on above thought with my team has been very fruitful. As a first step, I have used application of my learning in Coaching training to my indirect reportees and colleague friends. Coach-To-Transformation has in fact changed my management style from Manager mentoring to Coach mentoring. In my manager mentoring process, I used to act as a guide and sharing solutions based on my experience without giving much thought and understanding of his/her situation and applicability of the solution in his/her context. Effectiveness of the suggestions depend on the person how he/she react to this and chance of failure is high as mostly people consider this type of suggestions as “Gyan” and assume it is applicable in ideal situations. Coach mentoring has changed the perspective of mentoring where solutions come from the coachee himself/herself based on his/her situations. Success factor of this method is very high as the person is fully committed to the actions which are related to his/her situations and hence he/she feels comfortable to execute and committed too. Tt creates a highly transparent environment where each person sees his/her strengths and weakness through the mirror called coach mentoring. Execution of the actions are owned by the coachee which helps to create a high-performance team. It is giving me tremendous satisfaction when I see the positive outcome after every session I do with my indirect reportees and colleagues. It has in fact improved my relationship with the team as the entire process is based on mutual trust and I have redefined my identity as a mentor coach for my team.
As in IOT (internet of Things), an IoT Gateway plays the pivotal role of connecting IoT nodes/devices each other and combines the strength of each node and create a highly effective and efficient network of intelligent nodes. Coach plays a similar role of IoT (Internet of Talent) gateway in a team as he/she helps team members to realize their own strengths, weaknesses and improvement areas to perform effectively and efficiently and create a high-performance team.
