As I got on my Coaching journey with Coach-To-Transformation (Rajat and Arvind) along with other batch mates, one of the biggest aha thing has been on “knowing myself better…much better”.
The self-awareness, to me, is a key to the way you live and enjoy your life, … every moment! There were many moments of realization on this, class room sessions’ rich discussions to peer-to-peer coaching sessions and even some self-reflection moments!
And there were various ways we got to these “self” moments. I have tried putting some of them below which stood out for me.
Metaphors – Self-exploration through metaphor was a great experience in itself. The exercise made me think deeper into associating myself with an object (which I relates to the most) and subsequently list down the attributes of the object. In fact, as we discussed in the group, I developed even deeper understanding about each of the attribute, how do I relate to it or not! Pondering over other attributes which I do not currently relate to opened a plethora of opportunities for me in terms of development. Needless to say, we may not want to connect with each of the attribute, especially ones which do not align with your value systems! To me this exercise was of great value in terms of knowing yourself a bit at deeper level. And I wish to repeat this in time to understand myself even better through this journey of development.
Wheel of Life – Wheel of life making me think important things for me later in my life, prioritize them was another exercise to explore “my purpose”. What is really important to me…! Needless to say, it made me much more aware of my inner drives, what is probably not important, which I am so much chasing! I made some action plan for each for these! I believe this would help me live much more purposefully.
Exploratory Conversations – Conversations with the colleagues, have been very insightful, making me think, explore into myself and helped me learn a lot more about myself. And of course, this has been only possible because of having such wonderful learned and enlightened colleagues in my coaching journey!
Peer-Peer Coaching Sessions – The peer to peer coaching sessions have been absolutely wonderful, helping me get over my get sorted out on many things! They also helped me get over some of my “blocks” thus helping make choices. In fact, each time we have conversations/ coaching sessions, self-reflections followed for me. And each of these have been very insightful to me.
In some way the journey has begun and I am already enjoying this so much! I am convinced that this would continue to be fulfilling and I am eagerly looking forward to each moment of this journey! 🙂
