What is Supervision?

According to Association for Coaching (AC), coaching supervision is a formal and protected time for facilitating a coach’s in-depth reflection on their practice with a Coaching Supervisor. Supervision offers a confidential framework within a collaborative working relationship in which the practice, tasks, process and challenges of the coaching work can be explored.

The primary aim of supervision is to enable the coach to gain in ethical competency, confidence and creativity so as to ensure best possible service to the coaching client, both coachee and coaching sponsors. Supervision is not a ‘policing’ role, but rather a trusting and collegial professional relationship.

What are the benefits of Supervisor Training Program?

The primary purpose of supervision is to ensure that the coach is effectively addressing the needs of the client. In addition, it allows for exploring the relationship between the coach and client and ensures that ethical standards are adhered to throughout the coaching process.

Organizations can maximise their ROI in coaching by getting internal coaches supervised which can help coaches to deal with issues like conflict, bias, confidentiality so that they can continue to coach in the most effective way.

Supervision in Coaching helps bridge the gap between theory and practice. It is practical support in skill enhancement of a coach.

At times, the line between right and wrong can be very fine. In situations where a coach is confused on ethical grounds, s/he can bring it for discussion with the supervisor without breaking the confidentiality of a coaching relationship. The center of our universe-our students OR our coaches. Here is why they like us

Being able to speak through my dilemmas and experiences of coaching with you and figure out a way forward for myself in the coaching profession. Your questioning and your ability to challenge me at different levels helped me go deeper and realize that a lot of what I was doing was in the right spirit of coaching and some things needed to be looked differently I learnt and experienced that if you focus on ‘Who’ part of the client in our coaching conversations, the awareness about the client goes up multiple notches. And that helps the overall coaching process. Every coach has his/ her own style, and I will develop my own style over a period. If I continue to focus on the coaching process and the client, it works. Helped me understand the ethics aspect of coaching at a practical level. I realized this even more as I was taking the ICF-ACC assessment test.

In several situations, I was getting far too involved with the problem at hand, supervision helped me with my presence as a coach. It helped me reflect on how I wanted to show up as a Coach. I started focusing on the central theme of coaching – it is the coachee & his journey.
