The Moment It Became Real: My Journey Toward Becoming a Certified Life Coach
Every journey has a beginning, but mine didn’t start with clarity or confidence. It started in a phase where I felt completely stuck – caught in my own thoughts, overthinking everything, yet not finding any real answers. It was frustrating, mentally exhausting, and at times, overwhelming. I knew something needed to change, but I didn’t know how to navigate my way through it, let alone imagine that this stuck phase would one day set me on the path toward becoming a certified life coach.
Interestingly, what shifted things for me wasn’t something I actively sought out. It came unexpectedly. At work, I happened to be a lucky draw winner, and the reward was something I hadn’t experienced before; a professional coach, offering three sessions of 60 minutes each.
At first, I approached it practically. I used the initial sessions to talk about my career and professional direction. They were helpful, no doubt. But something told me to hold on to the final session; to use it for something more personal, something deeper.
That last session turned out to be a defining moment for me.
It wasn’t about advice or solutions. Instead, it was about questions; thoughtful, deep, and sometimes uncomfortable questions. Questions about my values, my belief system, and my strengths. I found myself pausing, reflecting, and responding in ways I hadn’t before. It didn’t give me instant answers, but it triggered something far more important. It made me think in a way that led to clarity over time.
What stayed with me wasn’t just the session itself, but what followed. Over the weeks and months after, I kept reflecting on those conversations. I began to realize how powerful it is to simply hold space for someone; to ask the right questions and allow them to find their own answers.
That’s when something shifted.
I started seeing coaching not just as something that helped me, but as something I wanted to offer others. I had often been told that I was a good listener and someone friends turned to for guidance. But this felt different. This felt like a skill, a craft – something that, if learned deeply, could create real impact. It was around this time that I first started genuinely looking into how to become a life coach, wondering if this could be more than just a passing thought.
For the first time, I felt a strong sense of direction. A thought that stayed with me: what if I could do this for more people? What if I could create that same space for others. The space that helped me reconnect with myself?
That’s when I decided to pursue coaching more seriously. I spent time doing my homework, exploring different institutes, understanding what would truly help me grow in this field, and looking closely into life coach certification in India to make sure I was making the right choice.
And eventually, I found the right place for me – CTT, known for its ICF accredited coaching program that gave me the confidence I was learning under the right mentorship.
In February 2026, I officially began this journey.
Today, I’m midway through the program, and even at this stage, I can feel the difference it’s making. There’s a deep sense of satisfaction in knowing that I’m learning this in the right environment, under the right mentorship. It’s not just about gaining skills; it’s about evolving as a person.
This journey is helping me become more aware, more present, and more intentional. Not just as a future coach, but as an individual. And when I look at how far I’ve come, I realize that becoming a certified life coach was never just a career decision – it was a personal one too.
Looking back, it’s almost surprising how it all began with a phase of feeling stuck, followed by a moment of unexpected opportunity. And now, it feels like I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
I’m still learning. Still growing. Still discovering the kind of coach I want to become.
But one thing is clear; I’m committed to this path. And I’m deeply grateful to the coach who unknowingly helped me see it.
This is no longer just an idea.
This is my journey.
