Back in early 2016, I had a beautiful life — my company was doing well. I was in excellent health and was blessed with a support system of loving friends and family. Very few people can say that they’ve been blessed in all aspects of their life, and I count myself as one of the fortunate few to make that list.
And yet, I felt lost.
I felt stuck with an existential crisis!
I was going through an existential crisis, and was looking for answers for the ultimate question in life: What’s my purpose? In fact, what’s the purpose of humanity, in general? Are we just products of Darwin’s theory of iterations, with no real purpose?
As you can imagine, I was unsettled and, more importantly, hungry for answers.

Fundamental Insights I discovered

Over the following years, I took to various schools of thought. I devoured books of scriptures with the same gusto that I immersed myself in the latest of science and technology. From the meditation to Quantum Physics, the Bhagwat Gita to Behavioural models of Psychology, I spent hours, days sometimes, exploring the breadth of resources.
I enrolled myself in different streams of meditation, practicing Sahaja Meditation, which is based on experiencing collective consciousness. I might have started confused and curious, but the meditation gradually helped me realize how all of us are equal, and eventually part of the same collective consciousness with different personalities (fingers of the same hand, if you will).
Somewhere along the road, I also took to the executive coaching. I might have started with some hesitancy, but it helped me discover the underlying patterns that were (somewhat surprisingly) limiting my performance at work and also not letting me get in touch with the most crucial aspect of them all….
…my self.
For the first time in a long time, I felt connected with my values and discovered what adds meaning to my life. I understood many of the underlying patterns that were limiting me (such as not holding my boundaries) and, thus, aligned my life accordingly.

Did these come with benefits?

Yes, they did. I started learning new insights as I became ‘more’ aware of myself:

  1. To be confident, assertive even under challenging situations.
  2. To not be insecure and, in turn, handle criticism.
  3. To not be insecure and, in turn, listen to others better.
  4. To not be “so” attached to the goal that I can’t live (or be) my best / creative / productive self.
  5. & many more.

Conclusively, I think my life has changed amazingly. I noticed that these insights helped me be my best self at every moment, no matter what kind of various ups and downs life brought in periodically.
I am a man of logic and reason. Yet, a lot of my decision-making comes from a subconscious world of thoughts and feelings. As I applied these new insights with a sense of self-awareness, my decision making improved a lot.
Here is an example. Earlier, I had a continuous zing zing in the back of my head about my never-ending to-do list. This zing zing kept my mental energy away from the current tasks that required my focus. I never realized it. At times when I did, I never understood the possible benefits of getting rid of it. Then, I learned insight to not get so attached to my to-do list. As I applied this insight, I became more focused in my present moment. Not only that, but I was also able to manage my to-do list better and felt more satisfied with my work.
I’ve become a more productive, creative, collaborative, inclusive, and compassionate leader. At the same time, I am also comfortable with my imperfections. I can say that I live a more purposeful, passionate, and satisfying life…
…Well, almost. But I am on my journey, and I feel deeply quenched. I welcome you to invest in discovering insights that can help you be your best self.
Ps: Next on how I am sharing the gift of profound insights. (You can follow me on LinkedIn for more.)
