This blog is about my Journey, the sweet connection of 15 plus years of Corporate life, learning life lessons while dealing with Cancer and finally finding life’s purpose through Coaching. In short this has been my transformational Journey.

1999 when I came to Mumbai (The city of Dreams) –
Rashmi, a young girl from a small Indian town came to Mumbai with wonderful dreams post Engineering to do M.B.A and then joined the financial Industry in 2001. On the personal front – got married with the love of her life, shortly followed by 2 lovely kids, now studying in the best school (something doting parents can understand).

Life was going on great, at least that’s what I thought! Then what went wrong?

Despite constant progress in my professional life I kept losing my true self, something was amiss. I felt lost, had lots of heavy baggage and was constantly self-doubting.  Until life gave me a wakeup call up in 2016.

2016 Cancer, the Ultimate Emotional Rollercoaster Ride.
8th Jan 2016 was a regular day till the visit to the doctor. The scan on 14th January confirmed that the mass around the ovary looked cancerous. The ride for next 7 months was crazy, never did I experience anything so challenging. The ups and downs of treatment left me breathless. I was literally struggling with side effects of chemotherapy but through this process I had many questions. How did this happen? Who am I? What is my purpose? All very powerful questions and as we are taught in coaching – all answers lie within us. We just need to see. Since childhood I used to believe that “everything happens for a reason” so next few day/months were spent in finding a way through all this.

Trust me navigating life through cancer isn’t easy.

This set back gave me a chance to reinvent myself. As all the hurdles in our life comes for a reason and they all have an opportunity in it. Oh! I liked the twist, but to find opportunity in this setback required heaps and heaps of inner work. I realized that this new journey would be interesting and inspiring as it opened my eyes to the richness of life.

Coaching – Taking control back!
Coaching is a learned discipline and a powerful medium between therapy, mentoring, and consulting. After being an NLP coach since 2017 life kept getting smoother and better as I started understanding myself. This year getting trained through ICF Coaching was like the icing on the cake. It gave a new dimension and structure to my work as a coach. Coaching taught me to have a single-minded focus on being a better version of myself. I learnt how coaches can enable clients with the help of powerful questioning to enhance their focus on developing successful solutions and to mitigate self-defeating beliefs about their life.

This transformation from corporate life to coaching needed lot of self-effort and today, I feel blessed to have reached here.
